Erich first joined OACB in fall 2014 as communications coordinator. He was promoted to the position of communications director in January 2021. Erich has been instrumental in writing and compiling content for all of the association's publications, including the Board Member Reference Manual, the OACB Life Map, PolicyBrief, SSA Today, Member Monthly, and OACBInsider. Working alongside OACB staff throughout the pandemic, he created the majority of written and visual content for COVID-19 Updates.
On the community relations side, Erich has advised a number of county boards facing crises related to personnel issues, MUIs, levies, financial topics, and more. Working alongside OACB's government relations director, he took a leading role in planning OACB's first-ever Federal Fly-In in 2019 and helped coordinate the statewide framing of key issues for the Ohio DD Caucus. As the association's social media manager, he has organically grown OACB's Facebook and Twitter followings from several hundred people in 2014 to more than several thousand today.
Erich brainstormed and directed substantial improvements to MemberConnect, OACB's member services portal, including the Media Archive, Publications module, self-serve Listserv interface, and improved Events registration. In 2018, he coordinated a complete overhaul of OACB's Salary Survey, dramatically cutting down on the time required from members to submit their annual responses. In addition to serving as the association's de facto event photographer and on-site audio tech, Erich has planned the public relations/community outreach track at the OACB Annual Convention and Spring Conference, coordinated all event branding, and designed the printed program and house ads and signage for each event.
OACB's communications needs will be shared by other association team members on an interim basis. Members will questions about community relations and crisis communications should contact Adam Herman at aherman@oacbdd.org.
OACB wishes Erich the best in his new position and appreciates his seven years of service to Ohio's county board system. He will be sorely missed!
