A local organization advocating for equality in the workplace is providing even more employment opportunities for those with developmental disabilities.

The service agency, which aims to “increase the earnings and status of individuals with developmental disabilities” recently purchased a West Seminary Street property in Norwalk. The building will provide clients with community-based services and activities along with office space for employees. A nearby vacant lot will be able to host outdoor public events.

The new property aims to create more jobs for those with developmental disabilities looking for work. At this time, it’s not known exactly what type of jobs will result from this latest development.

"Providing more and new community resources to the overall community benefits people with disabilities too-- especially because it creates new networks,” Christie Lane CEO John Schwartz said.

The project totals about $225,000 and is being financed by Civista Bank.
