The Jackson County Trotters Basketball Team will once again play against the “The Playground Legends” in the seventh annual Amy Duggan Memorial Classic. The Trotters Basketball Team is inviting everyone to support this year’s basketball game and auction, which is a worthwhile cause and a night of fun. The Jackson County Board of Developmental Disabilities will be hosting the event.
The memorial classic basketball game will be composed of the infamous Jackson County Trotters against various community members known as “The Playground Legends.” Last year, the final score of the nail-biting and entertaining game was The Jackson County Trotters 58 and The Playground Legends 56. The Trotters are currently 6-0 against the The Legends. The game will be held on Monday, January 19, at Northview Elementary with a tip off time of 6:30 p.m. The doors will open at 6 p.m. with the cost being $5 for adults and students are free. Amy Duggan was a member of the Special Olympics Basketball team who lost her battle with cancer in 2008. Members of the basketball team have helped organize this fundraiser to honor her in her love for sports. Hope Haven School Principal Heather Michael stated, “We would like to see everyone come out and support the Trotters at the Amy Duggan Memorial Basketball Game and Auction.” Proceeds from the event, which includes an auction, benefit the Special Olympics, Hope Haven School, and J-VAC Industries, in addition to several student-based projects.
