State Advocacy
State Legislation
OACB actively engages in the state legislative process by monitoring, testifying on, and advocating for legislation that affects people with developmental disabilities, their families, and county board services.
We track introduced bills, work to prevent negative impacts on services, and collaborate directly with lawmakers and their staff to ensure the voices of people with disabilities, families, county boards, and communities are heard.
Questions about OACB advocacy at the Ohio Statehouse should be directed to Jake Dowling, Legislative Affairs Manager.
Administrative Rules
OACB staff actively participate in the development and review of rules in the Ohio Administrative Code (OAC), working with state agencies such as the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, Ohio Department of Children and Youth, Ohio Department of Medicaid, Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, and Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD).
OACB also convenes rule review workgroups, bringing together county board subject matter experts to provide input and ensure real-world perspectives are reflected.
For a complete list of rules OACB is currently engaged in, contact Andy Jesson, Policy Coordinator.
Questions about OACB advocacy at state rule-making agencies should be directed to OACB Chief Policy Officer Monica Juenger.
