Gary Tonks, M.Ed., is president and CEO of The Arc of Ohio. As a family member, he brings both personal and professional experience to his work and has served The Arc for more than 52 years in roles ranging from volunteer and direct support professional to case manager and program director. He has also held executive director positions in Pennsylvania, Alabama, and California and has served as president and CEO of The Arc of Ohio for more than 29 years.
Tonks holds a master’s degree in special education and supervision and has played a significant role in the development and expansion of Ohio’s Medicaid waiver programs. He currently serves on the Ohio Medicaid Advisory Committee, Ohio STABLE Advisory Board, and OhioRISE Advisory Council. Throughout his career, he has received state and national recognition for his professional accomplishments and lifetime contributions to the developmental disabilities field.
