Full Agenda: January 20, 2027

10:00 - 12:00 Mobile Video: How One Device Can Transform Your Outreach

Video is one of the most powerful ways to connect with audiences, share stories, and bring your organization's mission to life. But creating engaging video content doesn't have to require expensive equipment, complicated software, or hours of production time.

In this interactive, hands-on session, attendees will learn how to develop a mobile video strategy, create compelling content, and streamline production using tools they already have in their pockets or on their desktops. From planning and storytelling to editing and measuring success, participants will discover practical, affordable ways to incorporate video into their communications efforts.

Then, it's time to put those skills to the test! Attendees will participate in a friendly content creation competition, seeing firsthand how much they can accomplish in under an hour. Best of all, the tools demonstrated will cost less than your monthly coffee bill!

By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:

Presenter: Dan Farkas, Professor of Strategic Communication (Ohio University)

12:00 - 1:00 Lunch: Regional Networking

Connect with fellow communicators from your region over lunch to share ideas, discuss common challenges, and explore opportunities for collaboration.

1:00 - 3:30 Crisis Communications: From Scenario to Strategy

This interactive, scenario-based session will give participants the opportunity to put crisis communication principles into practice. Following a brief overview of key principles, participants will work through realistic crisis scenarios, develop an initial response, identify key audiences and messages, and use a crisis communications checklist to guide their approach. Groups will then share what worked well, where they struggled, and what they would do differently. The session may also include role-playing exercises, such as responding to challenging media questions.

Presenter: Tom Speaks, Partner (The Impact Group)
