The Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities honored National Disability Employment Awareness Month at its October board meeting.
People living with developmental disabilities who are employed locally, and area agency providers and TuscBDD’s employment navigator, shared with the board about their employment experiences.
Kim Byrd discussed her job with Dover Healthy Alternatives and how it led to a network of friends and community and increased independence. Kim Chaney, of area agency provider Advocates for Success, discussed how she supports Byrd with services.
Presentations concluded with an update from New Philadelphia Fire Department employee Cliff Jackson, Jackson’s mother and Randy Stull, a representative from local provider agency Stepping Stone.
