It was a night to remember the past and see how far people with developmental disabilities have come in Allen County.
Hundreds of people came out to the UNOH Event Center to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The organization passed the milestone on October 25th and celebrated with a gala featuring dinner and dancing, and several speakers. Superintendent Theresa Schnipke says it's encouraging to see the progress that has been made since the group formed in 1967.
"It's been an amazing year," says Schnipke. "We've celebrated all year and getting into the history and seeing how much this agency has been supported by the community and how much services have changed in 50 years has just been amazing."
The ACBDD is looking forward to continuing to be a positive presence in the community.
