Fremont resident Carrie Beier was named Erie County Board of Developmental Disabilities interim superintendent at its recent board meeting. She will begin her new responsibilities July 1. Beier replaces Lisa Guliano, who recently accepted the superintendent's position at the Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
Beier has served as the director of early childhood services for the for the past five years.
Beier has 15 years of experience in the field of developmental disabilities. She joined Erie County DD in 1997 as an early intervention specialist. She became the lead intervention specialist in 2003 and the director of early childhood services in 2006.
"I feel like I'm stepping into a great situation," Beier said. "Lisa has done a lot of work over the past two years putting together an excellent team. I want to keep that team intact and keep the organization moving forward."
Beier holds a superintendent's certificate from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
Beier earned a bachelor's degree in child and family services from Bowling Green State University in 1988. She also earned a master's degree in education from the University of Toledo in 1997.
