OACB Training Center Closed as of January 1, 2019

As of January 1, 2019, OACB's Online Training Center has been permenantly deactivated. Any certifications obtained through courses purchased prior to 1/1/2019 will be honored until their listed expiration date. However, no new certifications will be granted after that date, and no more courses will be sold.

OACB members were notified of this pending change in June 2018 and again in December 2018. Active Training Center users were emailed directly as well, and all users with remaining gift card balances were given a six-month period to spend unused funds.

Why has the Training Center closed?
When it was created, the Online Training Center provided unique value to members by offering opportunities for online professional development where none had existed previously. Today, several new sources of online training – including free options provided by the Ohio Department of DD – are now available for use by county boards and private providers.

In addition, members have shared with us in surveys and in one-on-one conversations that they prefer to attend professional development opportunities in person versus online or via webinar. These preferences are evident in their participation rates – OACB continues to regularly break attendance records at our major training events, while nearly all of our Online Training Center customers now come from outside the county board system.

What will happen to currently active Training Center accounts?
All Training Center accounts will be deactivated, and the login page will be removed from OACB's website. All users who have used their accounts in the past two years will receive an email from OACB staff. Any orders placed in the final days of 2018 will be invoiced as normal.

I received a certification that extends into 2019. What does the Training Center's closure mean for me?
Existing course credits will be honored by the association until their listed expiration date, which is typically one year past their date of issue. However, the Training Center will not be an option to renew one's certification in 2019 or at any time in the future. OACB recommends that providers seeking annual certification online visit the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities' website.

Where can I get certified/re-certified now that OACB's Training Center has closed?
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities offers online certification for providers. Click one of the links below for more information:
