Criminal cases involving victims with I/DD can present difficult challenges. In this virtual event, come hear from speakers with developmental disabilities and experts in the field on best practices in responding to and preventing these crimes. Topics will include tips for interacting with people who have communications disabilities, the latest on forensic interviewing and trauma-informed approaches, and sexual assault examination techniques. This conference is presented by the Ohio Attorney General's Office, hosted by The Arc of Ohio, and coordinated by OACB.
This is a virtual event that will take place entirely through the Zoom platform. Registration for the event in Zoom is required, but attendees do not need a Zoom account to take part.
Who Should Attend: People with developmental disabilities and family members, law enforcement and first responders, prosecutors, emergency medical personnel, victim and legal advocates, SSA and MUI staff. (Please note: CPDUs cannot be offered for this event.)
