Presidents of county boards of DD have unique functions and responsibilities not shared by other board members. Presidents also have a duty to serve as leaders in their boards, whether that is through a high level of personal engagement in their boards' everyday activities or through the empowering of other board members and/or board staff to take a leadership role.

With this training, board presidents will be able to hone their leadership skills and polish their management styles in order to improve overall services to people with developmental disabilities.

Scheduled presentations include:
• Leadership philosophy (with DODD Director John Martin)
• Running a meeting and parliamentary procedure (with OACB legal counsel Frank Hickman)
• Working with local media and successful levy campaigns (with Franklin DD Superintendent Jed Morison) Afternoon panel discussions (led by current and former board presidents and superintendents) will also take place on the following topics:
• Finance, budgets, and long-term fiscal planning
• Board president/superintendent relationship building
• Successful shared services collaboration

Each county board president (or his/her designee) and superintendent may attend without a registration fee.  All others will be billed $35.00.  A box lunch and coffee service will be provided.
